Heron Moon Roast Coffee is lovingly roasted on the island of Caye Caulker, Belize, by Roast Master and owner, Mark Nicholas. Mark roasts each small batch of coffee to your specifications; light, medium, espresso, dark roast or anywhere in between. We roast to order so that you get the freshest coffee you have ever tasted. You won’t believe the taste difference fresh roast makes!

Our prized coffee beans are sourced from the highest Guatemalan mountains near Antigua and amidst 3 active volcanos, about 300 miles from Belize as the crow flies. Beans are extra fancy (highest quality) and strictly hard (grown at over 4500 feet elevation). Our single origin, shade-grown coffee beans boast the chocolate, toffee, and floral notes this award-winning region is famous for. The farmers use a maximum soaking interval to bring out flavor, and they then sun dry their beans. Coffee is processed in a traditional method with a leg-powered bicycle that has been converted to a chaff cleaner.

We trade directly with the Coffee Growers of San Miguel Escobar. In 2012, we searched for a lasting partnership with a group of farmers. We found one with Teo and his fellow co-op members of San Miguel Escobar near Antigua Guatemala. We traveled to San Miguel where Teo taught us to roast coffee and helped us to obtain our trusty custom coffee roaster. Direct trade ensures that farmers have a good standard of living and set their own prices and methods of production. There are feminino farmers within the co-op and all members are working together to better their lives and the lives of their community. We are proud of our partnership with the San Miguel Escobar Co-op, and proud to say that we know our local coffee farmers!
